-You have teams of 14   ( that is 7  2 person teams for the slow people ) need an odd #
-The 4 that have full rosters already  NYC, MD, NJ, LI
    - The 4 states pick out of a hat to fill a 4 team  Double elimination bracket
-Each state sets their rosters from 1-7  every round
    - Ex  MD vs LI  and  NJ vs NYC  ..... MD1 would play LI1, MD2 vs LI2,  Md3 vs LI3 .... and the same for NJ vs NYC
-Have all games best of 3.  The first team to win 4 of the possible 7 games advances.

Im having trouble understanding this but thats because im a burnout. If its what I think, basically its like putting 4 teams from each state at a table. Each table runs their own double elim tourney with the winner advancing. How would round 2 go then. AFter that first round of double elim, you end up with 7 winners. Do they get a buy into the next round....? I'm a moron when it comes to figuring this shit out.

No each state would have 7 teams play best 2 out of 3 against another state. Based on which Sqaud wins more matches one Squad would move to second round and the other to the losers bracket. So even if you win your matchup if your squad loses your in the losers bracket with them. Gotta roll deep. Round 2 is the two winning squads 7 teams each playing best 2 of 3 again

  • I think we need to be sure of what squads will definitely be coming before setting a tourney format set in stone. Personally, I think we should shoot for 8 teams. Right now we have 4, but you guys failed to include LI's TWO other squads that they are saying they will have. Pretty sure they will have a Lilly Flanigans Squad, a Nutty Irishmen Squad, and an all girl squad.

There was also that midwest team that seemed pretty interested but haven't posted here in awhile in regards to if they were definites or not. ALSO, I know of at least one other NY team thats trying to form for this. It's still over a month and a half away and am sure interest will build as the date gets closer, so I wouldn't be surprised if we get a solid 8 squads.

Also, Austin, is Maryland bringing one or 2 teams? because I doubt you guys would have any issues at all filling a second squad.

As far as the formatting, I still think we should roll with 16 players a team. I didn't like the format of the last beast of the east only in the fact that it wasn't as much about the entire squad as much as just the 2 people who won the tourney. Everyones throwing out good ideas for formatting, the only major things that I would like to see is a team prize awarded, and a squad prize awarded..maybe even a 2nd place prize awarded as well. However we decide to work that out, I don't care as much, but do think since theres a great deal of people planning on coming out for this, it doesn't make much sense to just give away one prize to the team of 2 that win the tourney.

It should be more about squads and which is the deepest, which is why I like the 16 per team, and realize many of you are trying to cut it shorter just because u have a solid 10-12 but the last Beast Of The East was 16/squad, and its already been hard enough cutting our squad down to 16. Philly/NJ shouldnt have any problem at all filling the 16 since you guys are combining great players from 2 entire states anyway, and part of the fun of the beast of the east is the fact that the #1 seed on the team can get teamed with the 16 seed from the team (i.e. Pop at the last beast of the east) I feel like having 16 helps balance squads out considering theres prob not much of a disparity for squads 1-10 but 10-16 further helps to prove which squad/region is actually the deepest.

I, too, enjoy the chronic. Xxx

Listen, there's so many different opinions on this but I say lets work with the old format of 16/team but make it more team oriented. I agree that the captains should decide on the finalized formatting, or else we'll all be reading everyones idea on formatting for the next month and a half. It's going to be a format that is both fair, fun, and a good measure of determining who the true beasts of the east are. The payout structure should also be fair in terms of paying out more than 2 people since there will be anywhere from 64-100+ people attending this event.

Kessler, is McFaddens trying to take any money out of the pot? I'm assuming they aren't because we're not getting beer included.

In my opinion, there's no fair way to pin up squad vs. squad unless you're planning on every squad playing every other squad which could take forever. The same things true with people saying partners should be switched up during the tourney, I think part of the fun is you don't know who you're going to play with and each squad will only be as strong as its weakest links

  • Mcfaddens is not asking or taking any money.

To comment on the Philly/Nj Team taking the best players from 2 states.  I am the only one on th NJ squad that doesnt live in NJ.   Philly beer pong where I play is 90 percent jersey kids that make the trip b/c NJ pong was down.

This is also Just a suggestion  Mike V who regularly post on here has ran tournaments in the past and suggested that ihe would volunteer to Run the tournament.  As DEFO posted it was a pian last year playing and both running it.

Also that would make him somewhat of a commisioner to take the lead and get in touch with the captains and  whatever format they come up wit we roll with them.

  • Mike V's not gonna play? and what's up with Bobby Beirut?

I'm sure it will be a pain in the ass to run, and we'll just figure out what the common consensus among the captains are for the the format/pay structure

    To the first question:

of course i would like to play, but as of now i do not have a team.  I also don't mind running this tournament for everyone (someone has to, and if this is how it works out then oh well).

    Question 2:

Unless Bobby Beirut plays with Maryland, i do not see them being able to play in this tournament.  It could make sense to have them on Farley's NJ team but i'm sure that's not gunna fly with him.

  • Maryland has it's official roster set. Here they are in alphabetical order...

    Barn Animal
    Jamie
    Steph
    Bryan D
    Mantis
    Cory D
    Foster
    Jeff G
    Mike G (last year's champ)
    Theo
    Austin (last year's runner up)
    Ryan Mc
    Larry
    Brian R
    Deryck
    Bunky (last year's runner up)

I'm feeling pretty good about it. We only had 3 that were voted into the top 16 that couldn't make it so it's a pretty solid lineup.
