  • I don't know if its partially because of the post-Vegas depression, but I think we should begin to think about the next Beast of the East tourney. Figured March might be a good time to have it (if it works with everyone else) just because its a midpoint from now til June (Atlantic City).

Maybe we can get some more teams this year, and maybe a midwest or Florida team?

I don't really care where it goes down, I know LI guys might wanna move it there since they took down the last one, but if it ends up being in Philly again I wouldnt mind smashing a cheesesteak. LETS GOOO!!!!

  • Yes March would be great.  I definately need a tournamnet clolser then June to get the awful loss out of my system.
Barry you should take the point with this.

I am also sad to announce that I will no longer be playing on the NJ war machine.
Since I recieved so much love from the Midwest guys during day 3 and they loved all my antics I am moving to their team.

  • Would it be too much to try and make it a 2day event on a fri-sat or a sat-sun?? That way you could focus on prelims and have a good tourny the 2nd day??

  • Kessler youve gotta be fucking kidding! lol I'm sure the war machine will miss ya but hopefully you playing for the midwest means they will have a team show up this year?

Mike, lets start setting this up. Are all the same parties interested?

Austin? Defo/Pop? Farley? Others that think they can assemble a squad?
Is it easier to have it in Philly again since it seems more convenient to get a wide array of teams to travel? Let us know!

I know some people said theyd rather change the format, I'm cool with whatever everyone wants to do, just let me and Mike know so we can start putting something together. Is everyone cool with 12 players per team?

Kessler... REALLY?!?! ahaha you're gonna slap the east coast in the face like that? We supported you hard out in Vegas and this is the thanks we get, I think everyones right, this kids a d-bag lol

  • A few things:

    1. Kessler, I thought you were repping MD this time around?

    2. This is no offense to Mike whatsoever, but the last tournament was a complete and total clusterfuck. Maybe the worst tournament most of us have ever attended. Barry, I'm just curious how much experience you have running large scale tournaments? I know a lot of the Maryland guys were pretty pissed off about making the drive up to Philly and having the tournament ran so poorly.

If it's going to happen, I think that it needs to be ran much more efficiently and *preferably* by someone who knows what they're doing. Not saying you didn't know, Mike, but it was apparent to everyone you were in a little over your head. I think this is more due to the odd format of the whole thing.

There were also a lot of players there that had no business whatsoever playing in a competitive beer pong tournament, let alone Beast of the East. "Well you were there Jeff" and yes, I'm a terrible player but I only lost one match the one time.

0-13 should definitely not be there. Players like that only take up space.

Hey Barnes, I've run tournaments in the past, but will definitely say I don't have nearly as much experience as someone like Austin. Ideally, he would be the best person to run a tournament of this magnitude just because of his experience, and all of the positive feedback he's gotten throughout the years running tourneys. I will do whatever I can to help out, but didnt want to just say "Hey Austin how about you run this tournament for us, thanks!" lol

Just trying to start getting the wheels set in motion, and we will learn from any mistakes from last year, although I do think last years tourney was still a good time regardless of a few logistic issues. It's OUR tourney, so let's figure out the best format that everyones cool with, that serves as a fair measure of each of the teams. I DID like last year how you were matched up against each squad, with teams being random. I honestly felt like this was the fairest way to measure each squad as a WHOLE. It also keeps people interested in attending the event because its a random draw each round and each squad is only as strong as their weakest link.

oh and mr. 0-13 will be left at home fo sho lol no need to be breathing everyone elses air

  • I played last year at BoE and while I was pumped to play, the whole thing was a letdown. I was expecting a smooth, fun tourney, but instead 3/4 of my time was spent sitting around waiting for the next round to begin. Also, as soon as BoE was to finish up, there was a satellite that was supposed to happen. Whether or not it went down I have no clue, cuz we left at like 10pm and the finals hadn't even started.

I don't run tourneys, I just play in a lot of them. If the same format as last year is used, BoE could run smoothly, but it needs to be a 2-day event (like ppa suggested above). That way we could still run a satellite on day 2 for those that wanted to stick around. Also, there NEEDS to be a new venue, cuz the corner of some boo boo restaurant/bar was not conducive to the amount of people we had.

Again, I don't run tourneys, but there is room for improvement with this one. I hope we get the ball rolling on this cuz I'm already excited for AC, but I need something before then!
