  • Hi Beerpong Players,

Currently the game of Beerpong is coming to the Netherlands aswell. A small group of students picked it up from some movies and short youtube scenes and want to start a tournament. We've found a nice sponsor, all we need now are some tips/hints on how we can make this tournament a great start to make BPong big in the Netherlands aswell.

One of the problems we came across is, do you do beer in the cups or not( as the ball can get dirty...?)
How to determine the main rules ( there are so many different rules out there... )
What's the best size for a good table.
Hands over the table or not.

Those are just a few questions. I hope you BPong players can help us out.

At most house parties you will see people playing with beer in the cups. They use a cup of water on the side to rinse the ball off in between shots.

Most tournaments use water in the cups for liability reasons and because it keeps the games moving faster.

In the end, it doesn't matter - do whatever you are comfortable with.

Hands over the table or not.

Most casual players typically play with an "elbow rule" where your elbow cannot cross the plane of the table.

Most tournaments let you lean as far as you want since the elbow rule is difficult to enforce and often leads to arguments.

If you ever want to play competetively, I would suggest playing with a lean.

  • First off, thanks alot for your replies. We are planning on playing competetively, since we've got around 40 players to start with already, and as mentioned before a sponsor aswell.

If you can lean over the table, do tall people don't have more chance as they are closer to the table? And what do you mean with the lean?

With the lean = leaning over the table.

Theoretically taller people should have an advantage (though you could argue taller people on average have worse hand eye coordination).

At the World Series of Beer Pong, there are many very good players that are average height at best.

Have we ever debated that taller people have worse hand eye coordination?
