  • This is off the normal beer pong forum discusions but was curious to hear if anyone had any info on the situation about bing bong and the world series ( skinny or one of the bpong guys would prob be the best )  was at a bar over the weekend and started bull shittin with some guy there who works with my wife.  She was hyping me up to him blah blah blah.......After talking with the guy he tells me his cousin was the person who invented the beer pong table and right away I'm calling Bull Shit not believing him.  He told me the company was bing bong and the idea was made in Philly. I responded that I hated their table because of the bottom cross bar at the foot messes me up b/c I hug the table.  He went on talking shit  about bpong saying all kinds of things that bing bong is the original table and the best one out there and that the guys from bpong are shady and did some f'd up stuff behind the scenes and stole the idea and so on.  His tone seamed almost like he lost his puppy.    AC was the first tournamnet I been to and took about 3 years off and got married and all that sh*t that puts a major dent on your beer pong carreer.  I know they used the Bing bong table in WS 1 and 2 so I wanted to hear the true story because I'm sure i'm gonna run into the D-bag again.

  • From what I understand, bing bong didn't patent anything, didnt do anything to protect their design which opened up possibilities for others, not just bpong. Pong a long, pong 360, bpong, etc etc all use the same basic design i believe. Plus, bing bong's customer service sucks. I was a reseller for them and often found when someone placed an order for them, they were suddenly out of stock and would be months until they got anything back in. They never told me this, I had to find out for myself after placing an order.

Pretty much, tom and that guys at bing bong didnt do what they needed to do. Didnt protect their design, and their customer service sucks, but i am pretty sure it was their original idea.

  • In general, we make it a policy to never say anything bad about either a) our competitors, or b) our past business partners. You won't even hear us talk about a certain someone who ran a spring break company. Therefore, I usually don't like to respond to posts like this, but I will try to quickly set the record straight.

The bottom line is, we used to buy tables from Bing Bong. We strongly encouraged them to file for a patent on the table design, but they didn't feel it necessary. Very quickly, they became one of literally dozens of table companies on the market. Even after this happened, we wanted to continue working with them, as we saw value in what they were doing, and also felt loyalty to them. However, their horrible customer service combined with their inability to do *anything* right made it impossible to continue working with them. I can vouch for the fact that Billy did *everything* in his power to salvage that relationship, even as everyone around him told him to stop wasting his time. I guarantee you that this post will be followed by around 20 people posting on here about how badly they got screwed by Tom.

If Tom focused his energy on treating people right, I honestly think he could still salvage Bing Bong. However, it is my understanding that he spends most of his time spreading a bunch of bullshit about us. Unfortunately, we don't have that kind of time, so I'm done...I will let everyone else on the forum give their opinion.

  • nick bing bong doesn't do the bar on the bottom anymore..
I think it was just a test phase. most of them have the regular bar.

I was around for all of this bing bong stuff, and yeah bing bong was the first
Everything skinny said from a business standpoint is true to my recollection.. I won't comment on any of the personal stuff.

  • Parting ways with Bing Bong was one of the most difficult decisions I have ever had to make, as it relates to my beer pong-related endeavors.  As Skinny noted, I tried everything possible to salvage that relationship and move things forward - offering far more than was being offered to us.  The response:  a certain person at Bing Bong became a complete asshole towards me.  Before making decisions, I discussed the situation with every person I could think of, including some of the more notable leagues and mutual acquaintances.  Everybody thought I was an idiot for holding on for as long as I did.

I finally broke down and parted ways.  I've moved on.  Bing Bong has chosen to dwell on the past and make up bullshit about us, none of which is true.  I believe that if they focused on their business itself instead of fabricating information about us, they could still be successful, as other beer pong-related companies are in this market.  And if we ever cross paths again and there is a mutually beneficial opportunity to work with them, I welcome it.  However, I will not put up with the crap I put up with before.

lol, I remember that Red Eye Breaks.  They were in charge of the limo's and were responsible for the mess at WSOB II getting to and from Mesquite...having said that, the guy didn't seem to know what he was doing.  He tried to get me to become a rep (as well as others cuz he would get commission off of it).  I was like no thanks.

but he did invented the bp table!!!

Ok bingbong did not "invent the beer pong table".  They did invent the design that has become the standard, (and is too damn short in my opinion) it is a great design for portability.

No BDS did not screw them over.  I've dealt with both bingbong and bpong, the level of professionalism is not even in the same stratosphere.  Bingbong's philly 5k tournament back in 2007 was an utter fiasco.  They had world series caliber marketing and zero execution.  Tom was rocking out with his band while fosters computer crashed and deep and I somehow became in charge of running an 80 team pool play tournament where 3 hours of results were just lost armed with a pen and a pizza box.

Anyway Tom if you're reading this I always liked you buddy and still do, but I think you'd concede that mistakes were made by bingbong in the past.

Lol Champ i remember that was ridiculous.

$5000, 80 teams, somehow we get thrown in and literally all we had after foster's comp crashed was a torn off pizza box and one pen between us... and as I recall we did not get anything for it.  I don't really care, but it was a shitshow....good times
