  • Hey, I know you guys ran this tourney last year out in Long Island and was just curious if there were any plans to do something similar this year? It sounds like it was a crazy time, and you might be able to get some more squads to show up this year.

Would anybody from NY/NJ/MD/CT/MA/PA be interested in attending? Maybe set something up before the end of the summer? maybe late August/early September??

  • I'd definitely go again if it was to happen. It was a lot of fun before I blacked out.

  • I know a lot of MDBeerPong teams would be down.  If BPong isn't going to organize it, I say MD and maybe Philly and some of the NY leagues come together to organize it like MD and Socal did for that east/west tournament in vegas before the world series...

Where is the best place to host something like this if it were to be organized?

  • i might be partial, but I know the event can take place in NY for sure. I know that there would prob be at least 3-4 different squads from NY alone so it might make sense to have it here since the majority of the people playing would be from here. Ultmately, I dont really care where it is, I'm sure any of the good players from the east coast would probably be down no matter what. I think last year defo put it together and the charge was like 50/person and each squad gets 16 players.. I guess the date, location, and which places are represented are the only things that would really be up in the air.

  • I would take the point for the Players that play in Philly however our problem is we dont have nearly the depth that the MD and NY teams have.
We only have 10 or so players that consistently play and that are good enough to compete. ( actually 4 of them are from NJ )  the rest that play are all just chuckers.

    Hopefully this gets more traction.

  • I could probably get a Ohio/Michigan/Illinois team together, whats the setup?  How does this go down?

  • Barry, lets do it. What's the biggest place to do something like this? Probably Turtle, no? I think when it was on LI, basically captains were appointed and they pretty much picked their friends i think (correct me if im wrong) - I think there should be a way t allow more people to play rather than appointing Pop as captain and having his team consist of the usual people (again, not sur eif this is what happened, i wasnt there) - But yea it was 16 people from each state....may have to up to 32 or something.

From what I gathered it was 16 people per squad. I think they had 2 Long Island teams from different bars, and then Maryland and Jersey teams. I think NY will prob have at least 3 teams for this tourney from the interest I'm hearing for it already. Turtle is big BUT they will bang us out for sure..... I have several bars that would host it, a few that JUST want cash for the beer and thats it. I doubt finding the place would be an issue at all, but I will start talking to a few bars and see what the deal is... Is late August good for everyone thinking about coming? I know its a "Beast of the East" tourney but if theres other squads from  Michigan/Ohio I think it would be cool if theyre willing to make the trip out...

I also hear what Kessler's saying in regards to depth, but I'm sure you're not the only ones to have that problem and am sure theres players from upstate NY or random parts on the east coast that are good enough to play... I think IWC played for Long Island last tourney even tho they arent necessarily from there... Kessler, maybe Philly/Boston can combine forces? Cuz I know 16 players per team is a little harder to narrow down in NY judging by the feedback its already gotten. I think we should make this happen for sure!

I think the way it was done last year was $50/person ($800/team) The 16 players from each squad are broken up into teams of 2 that are selected at random and the winners of the tourney won all the cash... We can change the rules if everyone wants to though.... For example I think since its more of a team tourney, maybe there should be a 1st place prize for the winning team of two, as well as a larger prize for the squad who had the overall best showing in the tourney determined by rankings.. Just an idea, if anyone else has any others feel free to pitch it
