    Post subject: TRYING TO ORGANIZE WEEKLY TOURNAMENTS

  • If we organize weekly tournaments at a local bar, how much should we charge for doing so? Should we ask for a percentage of the bar sales? A percentage of the participant fees?  Both?
     

    Any and all ideas are appreciated, thanks...

  • Establish a following first and then Negotiate when you move on to other places. if your just jumping into do it as a trial 4 weeks with no charge unless you have a consistant following already. and then you decide whether it would be bars sales or just a flat rate.
     
    We have bars that give us $200 regardless of the turn out but we have a lot of advertising and promoting  going into it that cost us money..... just as an example!

  • I'm running Beer Pong touraments right now and i have a deal with the bars that i give them $4 a game/pitcher (double elimination tournament). each team pays $20 and there are rebuys (but rebuys are single elim). I decide on how much winner gets and i keep the rest. All you really need to know is how you are paying for the beer and go from there.

    i love the rebuy idea.  i live in texas and we arent allowed to fill the cups with beer, only water.  sucks but i think youre onto something.
