  • How is leaning allowed in the WSOBP?  These rules just don't seem legit to me until there's no leaning.

The elbow rule should be enforced. Meaning: A shot will be deemed illegal if a player shoots and his/her elbow crosses the plane of the table.  The possession of the ball will be forfeited to the opposing team.

    This should just be standard..

Someone shed some light on this issue.

  • I totally agree they should put an expensive sensor on all 900 players elbow and impliment this rule, like bowling if you pass the line a loud noise should be emitted from the table, therfore the equipment cost more than the payout......(hello sarcasm)

  • To all serious pong players:

I realize that it is frustrating when people complain about leaning. However, you need to stop being so dismissive. That is HORRIBLE for the game. If you patiently explain things to people, they will understand. If you are assholes to them, then they will never try to understand, and the sport of beer pong will stop growing.

If you read the FAQ, you'll see the reason that there is no elbow rules at the WSOBP. Basically, it just can't be enforced. Any tournament that has ever tried to enforce an elbow rule has had fights break out. If you give leaning a chance, you'll see that while it is different from how you learned to play pong, it is no different in that everyone is still on a level playing field.

You're asking a lot here when the title of the thread is "Leaning is for girls"

Asking a question is one thing, and making a complaint is another, but coming in here and calling every serious player a girl means that this asshat is asking for it.

  • I mean, not trying to stir the pot or anything. But do the people complaining about the elbow rule know that we play on 8 foot tables? The whole point of the elbow rule being invented was when we had to find makeshift tables or doors or those folding plastic tables or whatever to play on and they were 6 feet. I think when younger groups would come in after that, they would just be used to playing on 6 foot tables with elbow rule and have had trouble grasping that it used to be 8 foot with no elbow rules.

I say just make tables 10 feet next year and reset everyone to the same learning curve, the better players will adjust in a couple weeks and we'll be back to this again.
