  • How much is the value of your experience important?  Is $$ the only reason anyone shows up at any big events?

  • A tourney with a smaller prize run by someone with a proven track record (like yourself, Peter) is much more appealing to serious players. I also want to make sure that all the people I've met over the years that I like hanging out with will also be there. Kinda pointless to make all that effort going, otherwise.

For example, I'm still not sold on the King of the Cups singles tourney, cause who knows what will actually happen with that.

What happened with that college open tournament or whatever the fuck it was called?

  • I would rather play in a tournament with a track record. I play beer pong because I love the competitive edge along with drinking at the same time. The money is just a bonus. I would rather put my money in hands I trust rather than some no names trying to make a quick dollar.

  • I would also much rather play somewhere with a lesser prize if it is essentially a lock that the event will be well run and actually likely to be a success.  I imagine that is how most serious player's would feel, but you never know.

  • I think the majority of people would head to the large prize.  You will have the loyalist to SOCAL BEERPONG that will be attending your event but overall I think the nonregulars of socals inner circle will be attending the large prize.

Sorry to stir the pot Mike, the ridiculous question reworded...
What gets people to commit to come to a big event?
Prize $ is always a focus, and how much fun people have at events isn't always discussed.

  • I think it will come down to a balance of prize $, entry fee, reputation, and location. Unfortunately, IMO prize money will trump the other factors.
