  • I think those changes are fine but not particularly necessary.  The only thing I don't like in 1v1 the way a lot of people play it is 2 ball shoot till u miss redemption - with two good players game can go on forever.

  • While playing a singles game I prefer to shoot shot for shot.  I think you have a good chance of hitting your second shot whether you made the first shot or not.  I would probably enter the singles tournament either way but I would like to see players have one shot per turn.

  • We've always played 1 ball, max of 2 (get a rollback if you make it), which lessens the huge streaks, but still places a lot of pressure on certain shots (to ensure a rollback).

I think one ball no rollbacks is a better option than 2 balls with a rollback.

The event would probably start somewhere around 8:00 on the night of the 2nd.  Once we get some pieces set, we'll begin taking sign-ups on BPONG.COM.

  • I think it should stick to 2 shots + a 3rd on double ups.
This helps matches go faster, and it keeps the singles rules more closely aligned with doubles.

For that reason alone I think it is more natural, but also I like the idea of rewarding 2 in a row.
If we eliminated the 3rd ball back in 2v2 and just went shot for shot, it loses some of the "game" aspect, and I don't see why that's any different in 1v1.

I think rollbacks have been an integral part of beer pong thus far, and although I have played shot for shot 1v1 (and it's fine..) my preference here leans somewhat toward the 2+ rather than 1 ball a turn.

That being said, 1 ball a turn favors the more skilled player (as skinny and I have discussed rollbacks at length on here) although it possibly makes for less exciting games as come backs will be very unlikely.

  • I agree w Foster

Rules should be the same as doubles.
First shooter gets one and then two balls from there on out.
Rollbacks are a big part of the game.
Come backs are exciting and getting an extra ball for making one shot is WEAK.

Rebuttle rules should be the same also.
If its a three cup rebuttle it has to be 1 2 3       one miss and its over
not two balls shoot til you miss.

One ball is slow even with good players.
