  • I've been trying to find some payouts from the wsobp III. I hope that more than just first place got paid, that would be absurd. How many teams got paid and what were those payouts??

  • I believe I read that second place (IWC) got a kegstool, entry into the next WSOBP, and a trip to Jamaica.

  • Hey guys,

You are correct. Billy and Duncan hooked us up with the kegstools, free trip to the WSOBP IV and a week in Jamaica which is also another tournament, I believe. We might even be getting a table, too. Pretty awesome prizes for a couple losers. haha.

  • Dub being a class act and nice guy wont speak up but Ill state how I feel about this matter and it has nothing to do with how he may or may not feel.

I think that's complete bullshit that the 2nd place team didnt get more than that.  Last year the prize payouts for 2nd place and 3rd place were much better than this year and the 1st place prize from last year was a lot lower.  It should be proportional to the $50,000 for 2nd place, like at least $20,000, and then like $10,000 for 3rd.  I know the excuse is blah blah we lost money, but just like my gf has posted in another thread.  Poor planning is DEFINITELY the excuse for this.  You cant have sign-ups last for only 2 months and expect to get 500 teams.  College kids are known to procrastinate when it comes to doing anything and giving them only 2 months to sign up for this shit just isnt good enough.  If you ask me, and no one is asking I know, sign ups for WSOBP IV shouldve started already.

Between moving the event to Vegas, and increasing the amount of the first place prize it was obviously more than this event could handle with the amount of people that showed up.  Shouldve kept it at $20,000 and then you wouldve been able to compensate the 2nd and 3rd place teams more appropriately.  And yes I know that you never said that 2nd and 3rd were going to get anything, but cmon it kinda goes without saying that these teams deserve something besides kegstools, a Jamaica trip where 8 teams showed up last year, and entry for next year.

I really hope to see this cleared up for the future.

  • lmfao-- what, you think we don't want to pay out 2nd, 3rd, and more?

I might listen to you if you has posted this before the fact, but at this point it's not carrying any weight.  Not to mention the fact that, having not been involved in any stage of the planning and execution yourself, you're completely out of line.

Furthermore, posting from behind an alias earns you no respect from me.  I usually listen to criticism, but trying to provoke us is juvenile.  What are you going to do next, egg our cars?  Come out and post like a man.

  • I'll say it again, but people who didn't ante up and play in the WSOBP have no business whatsoever giving their opinion about how things should be run.

  • He did play (or at least signed up to play or at least is posting from a computer with the same IP as somebody that signed up to play).  I know who it is, but the poster can come out if he/she wants.

As for the comments, I have little to say.  I'm not stopping you from running your own $50k tournament, and to say this was not planned or any crap like that is completely out of line based on the situation we were given.  We could have just quit when shit got thrown on us, but instead, we promised a bigger tournament at a better venue with a bigger grand prize.  We delivered that.

And if you don't like what we are offering, then don't bitch about it after the fact, even if your friends ended up finishing second.  Try bitching about it beforehand.

  • No I do understand that you probably feel bad that you couldnt pay out for 2nd and 3rd, but that still doesnt excuse what I stated as poor planning.  Im not trying to provoke anyone at all, I actually think you guys are great and as far as the running of the event goes I think its well organized.

But the late and short amount of time for sign ups and the weak payouts for 2nd + 3rd kinda gets to me.  I dont know exactly what went down with the casino or what caused the delay for the sign up, but from what Ive heard that is the reason why there was a loss on this years event.

I did play in this years event, that is correct, I think the event is fun and I have a good time every year Ive gone.  Im just offering my opinion, which I know doesnt mean shit, I dont have a single ounce of input on the event, but I DO KNOW other people feel the same way that I do but dont have the balls to speak up and would rather kiss ass all day.  So dont respect me, that is fine, and in the end I just wanted help make this event better, not provoke or piss anyone off.
