  • Distractions are so lame.. and the rules are extremely vague "as long as it doesn't break any state laws" so I am bringing a 10000 watt light bulb and shining it in the opponents face... Lets get a little more detail in this because I am playing and I hate distractions.

  • I'm sorry if you hate distractions.  Although I don't distract much myself, I think it adds more to the game than it detracts.  Feel free to argue with me but the way I see it, you should be able to sink that cup no matter what's going on around you.

We don't allow any kind of distraction which would physically interfere with your ability to aim at and/or sink the cups.  Any kind of light or laser pointer would fall under visual blocking of the cups which is not allowed.  That rule is in the section on Distractions unless I am mistaken... actually, it looks like it was erroneously not included in that version, which is odd, but it was present in last year's rules and it has now been re-added:

"Players must have an unobscured view of their opponents cups while having possession.  Therefore no visual blocking of the cups, such as with hands or any other objects, is allowed."

  • I don't like distractions, I think they are just a way for the worse team to get an edge.  I view Beer Pong like golf, it is a game of intense focus yet a sense of calmness.  In golf there are no distractions, and this is why I believe Beer Pong is a gentlemens game.

For those of you that do distract people with lame techno-glowstick dancing, when those teams that are relaxed and calm beat you please be humble.  I imagine there is no worse feeling than doing everything you can to distract the opponent from making cups, which most likely will look stupid, and losing.  However, bring on the distractions, play by the rules, and in the end we will see who focused more on making cups.

  • I personally love it when people try to distract me when I'm shooting.  It makes me that much more focused on kicking his/her/their ass(es).

The biggest distraction for me (when playing a serious game) is when my partner is bullshitting with other people.  Instead, he/she should be focusing on that next cup he/she is going to hit.

  • Beer Pong is NOT a gentlemans sport. When you involve alcohol, you throw any kind of courteous behavior out the window. If you don't like distractions, then go play golf, but certainly don't compare it to golf. Beer Pong is a party game, and you don't go to a party and say "Excuse me, can you all settle down so I can shoot my shot real quick?" Basically what I'm saying is.. get the sand out of your vagina...Real beer pong players don't care about distractions...

  • As far as props go..

I think devices to produce either light OR noise should be barred from distractions.

The last thing we need are 200 people with megaphones yelling at all once during their opponents turns Shock

Also any shoes seen to increase the height of the shooter by more than 5" should be ruled out too. I don't want to play some guys thats on stilts for the height advantage.  Very we!

  • One of the best distractions I like to use is when I break out my laptop during a match and try to calculate shot percentages.  Usually I distract myself and then shoot like crap at tournaments like the WSOBP.
