  • I want to quickly note that all Satellite events (or most anyway) are run by independent third parties.  We like to hear of problems so that we can address any problems with the people/bars that are actually behind them, but ultimately, all complaints/compliments need to be directed to the people running them.

  • It really did not go off too smoothly, and took forever.  There were so many tables not being used, at one point my partner and I went and found the team we were supposed to play and played them on one of the empty tables just to get it done.  In their defense there were over 100 teams, and people were getting smashed.  Does anyone know who won it?

  • This is just another example of why people who don't have experience running tournaments SHOULDN'T.

I can point to dozens of examples of people who think that just because they found a piece of paper for a sign-up sheet at a house party think they are qualified to run a decent beer pong tournament.

Most people don't know how to seed a bracket properly or keep things running smoothly and quickly.

What's unfortunate is that sometimes these tournaments are what the outside public sees and thinks is standard operating procedure for a beer pong tournament, or one of these douchebags lands a tournament at a nice venue but fucks it up so bad the bar owner wants nothing to do with beer pong anymore.

  • ill agree it didnt go to smoothly and that those are possible consequences for running a bad tournament but if we have a few different groups of people that get experienced running tournaments they will get better and we will have more good tournaments to play in out here in AZ so i encourage them to keep running them when they can and ill keep showing up.  they will work out all the kinks after a few then maybe one day we can get a lot more tournaments like NY or other places on the east coast have.

and i have no idea who won im assuming the team that eliminated my team (thats what she said) i think their team was called the closers but i may be getting teams mixed up.  after they defeated us i think they were the only undefeated team left, and we ended up playing them 2 games after that loss and they beat us again.  but like i said i didnt stay for the end.

I agree with everything here - but also know that everyone has to start somewhere.  If there is a desire to make it better - a poorly run event or two is tolerable.  When the only goal is to make $ and no attention is made to run an event that is fair, well-managed, and fun - then venues and players will be lost.

  • The HP Puppet Masters won it, they were the only team to not lose in the tournament. They were all the way from Colorado.

  • The main problem was that the room where the tables were at the PA was not working. Therefore that is what caused this tournament to take sooo long. I know there are people that are not happy with the way the tournament was run. I am very sorry and accept full responsibility for it, so please don't ask anyone from bpong why it was the way it was. I promise that the next one will be much better and fairer. October 17-19 at The Sets is all ready signed for and ready to go. I will personally make sure that things run way smoother. Thank you everyone for coming out and for your patience.

  • I am actually going to give Hector a call tonight.  Our team (Kitten Kaboodle) and Puppet Masters were the only two teams undefeated in the final round; 8-0.  Where it got shady was another team (with one player who was running the bracket)  was entered into the bracket again 'undefeated' after the buy back and already had 3 losses under their belts.  This is why we called 'em on it, yet nothing was changed because it was too late into the set.
