  • Do you guys think the "best players" typically use a lot of arc on their shot?  Obviously there are nasty players in both groups, arc and more line drive.  But overall do you think the majority of really good pong players use a lot of arc, just a little, or basically shoot down on a line?  Whats your style?

i think the "best players" typically have at least some arc on their shots. i've seen some decent line drive players, but their shots typically end up rimming out too often.

  • Seeing as the table is so short, I would call my shot more of the dropping-the-ball-straight-down-into-the-cups genre.  It's a joke how easy this game is.

  • I think more players def arc it more then line drives, iuse more arc for the back cups then with the front. I usually use a line drive for the front. with arc if you miss a cup it might pop up and go into another haha

  • You definitely need to use an are in your shot. If you really think about it the ball coming in steeper gives you more open cup space than a line drive. And im short so im forced to use an arc.

  • I'm about 5'8.. and I can use pretty much an arc or a straight shot and still make a nice percentage of my shots.. but i've seemed to have found a happy-medium between the two styles that works well.  I call it the starc.. It's pattented, that way no one else at the wsobp can use it....

  • I think "we" patented it. lol. But yea definetely in the middle between arc and lob is the best. You get the increased area for the ball to go in from the arc and the added accuracy of the line drive. The best of both worlds. It's almost more like pushing the ball hard enough that it drops where you want it to. If that makes any sense.
