  • I'm one of the last people who cares about people drinking their beer.  Most of the time I don't even pay attention to whether someone is drinking or not.  It's usually such a non-issue to me that we normally play with water in the cups, and let everyone drink (or not) what they please, as they please, on the side.

It was hilarious to me though, to hear a team name that celebrated their drinking abilities, or their drunkeness, then watch them move cups to the side without hesitation (and without picking up even one cup to take a drink).  I say celebrate your sobriety with a new team name!

Haha I think I know exactly what team you're talking about.  I know there are probably legal reasons this can't happen, but I say if you have anything drinking-related in your team name, drinking your beer should be MANDATORY.

  • It would be awesome if it was mandatory to drink all beer for the games. I know this is impossible and illegal, but it would be great. I drink a ton before my first game and continue to drink during my games. I noticed quite a few teams who made it pretty far didn't even seem the slightest bit inebriated this year. It kind takes the fun out of it.

  • It's a tough issue. You can't make anyone drink, but shit...you are at the World Series of Beer Pong. You aren't driving home, you aren't going to die from drinking maybe 10 beers at most on the last day. Just man up, especially when people are chanting "Drink your beer" and "Give us your beer".  Not only were the "Designated Drinkers" not drinking the beer, but they were wasting their beer."  They would just leave it at the table for the staff to throw away. I'd be shocked if they came back next year with the same name.

pretty sure everyone was thinking the same thing during the finals with designated drinkers.  i suppose it could make sense to not drink your beer during the game but at least after since it is paid for.  kind of a waste really.  but at o'sheas there were like 5-6 teams that werent drinking there beer which is just kind of ridiculous since its vegas and its beer pong.  as far im concerned o'sheas is as close to a house party as it gets in a bar and everyone should be drinking their damn beer.  one mixed team from long island i think tried to get in a fight with me bc they didnt want to drink their beer.

overall i dont especially mind but if you want to be taken seriously or act all bad ass then dont be a b* and waste all your beer.  especially at osheas!

problem is, they are playing for a chance at $50k - how do you know they weren't already drinking on the side? Maybe they caught their buzz and didn't want to get plastered to the point where they were throwing away their chances. I'm 100% sure they weren't the only ones there not drinking. In fact, i've been to tournaments where Mike Pop didn't drink a single beer (on the table, mostly because I think he was driving, and Ron was the designated drinker). A lot of times people play to win. Win money, satellites, etc. I can't hate on people not wanting to get carried away and throw their chances down the drain. Of course I guess you could do what I do, have a beer or two before the tourney starts and then just drink the cups for the rest of the night.....ahh fuck it - DRINK THE BEER DAMMIT!
