problem is, they are playing for a chance at $50k - how do you know they weren't already drinking on the side? Maybe they caught their buzz and didn't want to get plastered to the point where they were throwing away their chances. I'm 100% sure they weren't the only ones there not drinking. In fact, i've been to tournaments where Mike Pop didn't drink a single beer (on the table, mostly because I think he was driving, and Ron was the designated drinker). A lot of times people play to win. Win money, satellites, etc. I can't hate on people not wanting to get carried away and throw their chances down the drain. Of course I guess you could do what I do, have a beer or two before the tourney starts and then just drink the cups for the rest of the night.....ahh fuck it - DRINK THE BEER DAMMIT!

Lots of people weren't drinking their beer.  But all the rest of the teams didn't choose a team name that assigned themselves as the exact people chosen to consume the contents on the table.

After getting knocked out of the tournament, the designated drinkers became the designated pouring-the-beer-into-cups-then-giving-them-to-their-friends team.  I just thought all of that was humorous.

There was 50k on the line, so I completely understand the reason to not drink everything, or even not drink at all.  I don't even care if anyone drinks.  I'm not Kellan the House Party Nazi (jk OR).  But I nominate that said team gets a new name (Designated Cups Quickly to the Side Pushers).

haha.. i like the nickname peter! im pretty sure most would agree that if im playing with beer i drink it and give the other team hell if they dont!  and if im playing with water, which all my large tournaments are, then i could care less since everyone is on the same playing field.  i applaud ron for smashing getcha popcorn ready 12 hours after finishing a bottle of jack.  i never knew it actually helped people to drink that much alcohol while playing.  it always seemed like kind of a myth.  i guess we have a potential mythbusters episode on our hands.

and i agree. if you dont drink your beer then dont give yourself a team name that suggests otherwise.

  • Beer is absolutely necessary for me to play well. I remember the last game we lost on day 3 my partner and I were arguing over who got to drink each cup. I was even taking drinks of people's beer on the feature table one game. I guess I should have drank a bottle of Jack, too. Haha.

  • yeah, drinking before you shoot should be an unwritten rule, thats what our name "finish your breakfast" was all about.....
I guarantee we slammed every single beer before either of us ever shot. the greatest was when the team we were playing in the 2nd round of the double elim winners bracket weren't drinking there beers and we got the whole crowd chanting "finish your breakfast", I think that got to them since they finally missed in triple OT after that chant began, lol

Haha I think I know exactly what team you're talking about.  I know there are probably legal reasons this can't happen, but I say if you have anything drinking-related in your team name, drinking your beer should be MANDATORY.

well i'll be sure not to every have a beer-related name..

as i'm allergic and you better not force me Not so

having a team name about drinking and not doing so is like..

having a team name about being awesome and going 1 and 11

    i agree peter, i agree

  • What is everyone complaining about?  If the team we are playing isn't drinking their beer, we drink it for them!  Hell, we finish any random cups that still have beer in them.  If you set a beer down, or move it to the side, it should be up for grabs for anyone who wants to drink it.  I am fine with people not drinking.  More for me!

Now, if those people didn't drink their beer and then wouldn't let me have it if we were playing them... then I would get pissed.  What a waste.

  • i know these two guys very well and ive seen them get plastered more times than not while playing bp....

you also gotta remember like someone mentioned they were playing for the 50k and made it alot farther than everyone else because they got 4th.

maybe they were full or maybe they didnt wanna cross that line of being wasted and a solid buzz so their shot would be on when they were so close to getting to the finals.

i dunno either way i just figured id throw in my 2 cents....they were obviously doing something right by getting 4th LOL
