i can give my experience from this year...

luxor and excalubur were the cheapest rooms, of the big casinos, for new years.  i want to say that it was over $300 a night.  so if you try to stay at flamigo then you're probably talking more, unless you can talk to management and make a better deal b/c you're there for wsobp.  my guess is that you're on your own for that one and i doubt they (flamingo) care... vegas is pretty full on nye, it's not like they're hurt'n for guests.

  • All of the hotels are priced incredibly high well in advance. However, there are usually hotels that end up having empty rooms at the last minute, so if you wait until December 31st, you can probably get a decent deal. I ended up booking a room at the riviera for $150 on  new years eve. I booked it off of travelocity, and i think i booked it around noon that day. if you dont mind taking the chance, its a good way to go.

I haven't done a half-marathon in years.  I've never done any distance run drunk/hungover..... Anyone down for a hungover 13.1 miles to start off 2009?

i guess that's just all relative to how much $ you make  8)... wasn't a big deal.  i just looked up flamingo's website & it said that a night's rate for 12/31/08 is $320.  obviously there are smarter ways to go about this stuff - skinny's story is pretty good.  if anybody sees a killer deal at a good place then post it.  i've spent the last 2 nye's in vegas and it is the best place to be, for sure

i agree with you 100% on that one.  i put my partner in charge of finding a room, and that's what he came up with as the cheapest.  i think maybe there were some little shit places that might have been available for less, but i wanted to stay on the strip in a nice place.  i do agree that it's too much $ for a room, but things everywhere seem pretty high around nye's.  i like skinny's method, but i'm probably too anal to wait until the day that i arrive to book anything.  post it if you find a kick-ass deal, i'll do the same.
