  • Just thought I'd point out that there are two teams signed up as 'Team America'.  I know Ive heard the name before so someone better step up and claim their name!

  • Well, the first Team America to sign up and register was ours (the team sign ups are in chronological order).  Not sure where the other team is located but we are from San Diego.  Be interesting to find out where the other team is from.  Also,  if it is in fact a problem then perhaps billy should get in touch with both our team and the other one to discuss the matter.  I personally would prefer to keep the name as we normally play by it, although I imagine the other team would feel similarly.

  • I just decided Mike, my teammate, and I will also be playing as Team America. So we'll have 3 of them. Perfectly

  • I do know two different  "Team America" teams won San Diego area satellites... can't even designate a regional suffix to them

  • If you ask me - and I know, no one is asking - the team that signed up first should get the name.

  • Thanks Eric, 3 versions of Team America does sound like it would be hilarious (although difficult to find the correct table when pairings are announced).  Have you guys decided on a name yet?

Peter is correct about another Team America from San Diego qualifying just a week ago or so.  However, I'm not sure if the second Team America that is signed up for the WS happens to be those guys or not?  Although, if two San Diego teams did register under the same name it would be difficult to distinguish them without a regional suffix.  So good point Peter.

Order of sign up seems like the easiest and simplest way to break a tie if only one team can have a certain name (and billy or duncan probably will have final say on how its decided), but I am notably biased to that opinion as our team signed up first with the name.  If the other team is in fact from San Diego we might be able to play a series to determine who gets the name (I'm just not as down to travel cross-country to play for the name if the other team is far removed from SD, nor do I want the matter to be unresolved till the night of the WS to play the other team for it, I'd like it taken care of much earlier).

It would seems this thread will meander on a bit pointlessly until either billy or duncan put in their two cents, or the other iteration of Team America puts in a post.  I'll try and check up on this thread till then though to see.

  • In the past, we have always allowed multiple teams to have the same names. As prusch has alluded, we have always slapped on the teams state at the end for purposes of scheduling/etc. My personal opinion has always been that if there are two teams with the same name, it's not a very creative name, and both teams should just change the names (hint: if you are gonna call yourselves Blue Balls, Team Ramrod, Balls Deep, etc....you need to think harder).

It is my intent to have the schedules printed off on January 1st (i note that I say 'intent'), so it would be nice if these teams could resolve their dispute now. Since they both live in the San Diego Area, I think they should play-off against each other. If the issue is not resolved, the teams will be indicated as "Team America - Douche Team 1" and "Team America - Douche Team 2"...just kidding...sort of.

    Lmao.

Grady, since you guys signed up first, email Billy or Duncan and ask them about the 2 names. Like I said, I think the team names should be given in order of signups. Or get a hold of the Team America that won the satellite at Cabo Cantina. Ronny should have their number. See if it's them that signed up with the same name. Maybe they'll be down with a best of 7 series. And I better get a phone call if it goes down, I want to see it.
