  • It is absolutely our plan to have schedules for people when they register. This, of course, has been our plan for four years. The problem is, we never have a final list/count of teams, because people fail to show up, complete signups, are up in the air, whatever.

We are going to go through the list of signups and start calling people and hassling them to complete their signups and register their teams. We *really* want to have schedules printed the night before....

  • JW down the road in a few years or whatever....

will strength of schedule ever have a factor??

i know the games are random, but i think last year we played 4-5 teams that made it to the 3rd day (including smashing time and we run new york) we also made it to 3rd day.

I was jw if it would ever come into factor as to say a team that makes it to the 3rd day and only played say 1 or 2 other teams that make it??

i dunno if that sounds right or stupid haha??

that seems hard to imagine bro.  think about this - my team goes 8-4 in prelims and your team goes 6-6 in prelims... but your strength of schedule is twice what mine is... do you really think your 6-6 team should go instead of my 8-4???

it just seems like there isn't much place for strength of schedule.  can you give an example of how it would be useful?

  • i mean not really i was just kinda bringing it up to see what ppl thought....

the only way i could see it would be if both our teams were 8-4 maybe instead of cup diff. look at our strength of schedule add up all our opponets win and losses OR number of how many made it to third day or whatever....

i dunno this just came about cause im thinking since theres no divisions and all the games are random....well lets say ur team plays like 6-7 teams that are going to the 3rd day we only play like 1-2 and all the other teams we play records are like 2-10 or something??

i guess im getting at what if 1 team gets lucky and gets to play like ALL bottom tier teams and another teams games are against teams that are .500 or better??

I see what your saying but thats like saying in the NFL you say since the bears, vikings, packers have to play the lions twice you put that towards there strength of schedule and make whoever is eliglible for the playoffs suffer because the lions are just in there division.. Its not the teams fault who they get to play every year its already set. You have no idea who is or isnt going to be good on any given year.
Same goes for beer pong, its all luck of the draw

  • My quick opinion here is that there is never really a time where s.o.s. should supercede your normal record. I can't think of any organization where that would happen, nor can I really justify it at all.

Regardless, the point of The WSOBP is to crown a champion. If you're eliminated because your record was 6-6, you don't deserve to be a champion, no matter how hard your competition was. So quit you're bitching, Bitchy McWhine-a-lot Well

    Agreed.

Although I could see it being used in the event of a record tie.

that is the point of cup spread.
