Post subject: Starting up B Pong Tournaments in Bars? How to get a liscense

  • Hi guys I'm with Boats and Hoes and Vagtastic Voyage and we are out in Albuquerque NM and want to start Beer Pong out here so we can start satellites. Do any of you guys know how to get a liscense so we can do that in bars or know how to set up for having tournaments in local bars. If you can help us out that would be great. Hope to see you guys next year

  • i dont know what your local laws are but generally you do not need a license if you are hosting a tournament/league in a bar or establishment that has their own liquor license.  i would just check with your local liquor commission and ask them what would be required to do such an event.  such as concerns with responsible drinking.  in oregon we play our large tournaments with water and smaller tournaments,

First thing I would do is check what the Alcoholic Beverage Commission or the agency that controls same in that state says about beer in the cups.  Some states like DE and PA require that water be played in the cups otherwise the bar/establishment will get fined/sanctioned.  I would check with the ABC and see what they say so you're in the clear.

As far as satellites are concerned, for it to be considered an official bpong satellite, you have to have all the official gear, bpong cups, balls, tables and of course the rules.

Yo, were down here in Clovis NM. We were team Come Honor.  My brother is a detective for the State Police there in Santa Fe. He did a little checking for me and New Mexico has a gay law called "enticement". No bar can advertise drink specials....OR host games that are not registered under their definition as a game of "skill".....since Beer Pong is truly in its infancy to the public eye, the first thing we must do is show them that it really is a sport....therefor I am putting a portfolio together including videos showing exactly how Ron downed a bottle of jack and was still able to make cups.....thats fuckin skill.

I think it will help that the WSOBP is being shown in a positive light. No fights, minimal idiots....and for the most part EVERY team that walked up to the table were respectful (at least during our games), and I think its pretty safe to say that for a whole ball room of drunken dude bags, everyone was respectiful of each other, the building, and the staff. This is going to be really helpful when it comes to getting States like NM to change gay laws.....

  • No license needed. I throw Tournaments in Charlotte, NC all the time. I also work for a promotion company called Lazyday.com and we usually host the events. We purchase the keg as the third party and people have a blast. But we also have to have the option for water or whatever else the laws permit.

Well i didn't go bout 2 weeks and when i was at the website not to long ago, the whole establishment closed down. I wish i knew what they did with the 9 tables they had. how'd the tournament turn out this year? me and a buddy of mine are headin out next year. we're stoked, and we're trying to get sponsored by local bars.

  • I am working on getting a decent Tournament setup at a bar here in Charlotte, Buckhead Saloon sometime in the next month or so. some prizes we have given away in the past were Beer Pong tables, tabs to the bar, prizes got donated by Bud Light and other beer companies like grills, tailgating kits and tickets to concerts or sporting events. Hopefully there are some NC people on this board to come out...

If the prize is good enough, I'll make the trip to Charlotte from Greenville and possible bring a couple teams.  Maybe the Wilmington teams from the WSOBP would think abut playing as well.     No Quarter
