    Post subject: Rerack Rule Clarifications

  • I'm looking for some rule clarifications on the rerack policy for the wsobp IV

Lets say that we're at 7 cups.. the other team hits, and nobody thinks to rack.
The other team shoots and hits again, and now we're at 5.

Suddenly they realize that they should have gotten a rerack, but what happens now?
Is it too late? Do we create some kind of isosceles trapezoid?

Another scenario.. lets say we're at 6 and I go to rerack but I knock a cup over instead.
Now we're at 5.. do they still get a rack? and if so what formation?

Does the cup falling over count since it was during a break of gameplay during reracking?

    Thanks

  • Not 100% on this but: the rules state that u cannot make your own cups, therefore, if u were to knock over a cup while giving them a re-rack, i wuld believe u wuld just pick that cup back up, and continue with the 6 they had.. thats a very good question tho. where's the admins?

    Refer to rule V(J)(3).

Players are not allowed to shoot until the opposing team has clearly finished reforming. In the event that the thrower shoots before this:

       1. A cup made does not count and the opposing team receives possession of the ball.
       2. A missed shot is counted as a miss and the opposing team receives possession of the ball.

In the scenario you've described, the second shot wouldnt count.

Does the cup falling over count since it was during a break of gameplay during reracking?

    Refer to rule V(J)(2):

"In the event that a player knocks over his or her own cups, those cups are to be counted as though sunk and removed from the table. They are not to be refilled or replaced unless the dipshits are not paying attention (See: Dipshit Not Paying Attention Rule)"

I do not believe that that clause is qualified anywhere by whether or not the knockover happened during throwing/reracking/wherever. Therefore, I would rule it as a sunk cup. As far as how it would then be reracked - I would rule that the opposing team should have their choice of rack, so long as it fits within the context of the normal 6-rack. In other words, make it a normal 6-rack, and then remove whichever cup the other team wants.
