Post subject: Winning your own satellite

  • Wow. I didn't realize there would be such a response, and in many points, pretty much serious responses.  Well I guess I think everyone on here has really valid points.

In Oregon, I would say this last tournament that I ran was probably the largest of its kind in Oregon with 54 teams.  With that said, I had to weigh the pros and cons of playing bc I knew that me and trent had a very good chance of winning since I feel i have a pretty good understanding of the talent in Oregon.

With THAT said, I think anyone can win any one game and I don't see us playing as unfair bc we certainly didn't cheat but I feel that I had a hard time making sure everything was just how I wanted it to be to make it a great tournament.  Although some problems came regardless if I would have played, I am more comfortable not playing if my main goal is to run great tournaments.

Lastly, similar to what peter said, I started running these tournaments for the same reason that many tournament runners do.  To build a larger community of local beer pong players.  It is often very tempting to just want to play in all of them but sometimes that is not possible.  I don't think it would make a whole lot of sense to think that being a host of beer pong tournaments is extremely profitable, except maybe for the bar, but most runners are doing it to at least break even and more importantly to have a great time.

Well thats it. Next tournament I am actually not playing in so all those whiny ppl that said it was bullshit that we won, play in the next one and win.  Then I'll play you at the end for no money and still beat your ass. ;)
