  • Any head way on when the rest of us are going to get paid yet? At the last post, Billy requested that we email him our contact info (name mailing address team name place etc). I did so the same day it was posted, and it's now March, and there has been little to no feedback from you guys as to when (or even if) we are going to get paid. Just curious as to whether you have a DEFINITIVE answer on an exact time when we can anticipate getting our checks, and if you still don't know, when will you know?

    Thanks.

    Hey,

We are currently going through the list and intend to pay out all the prizes as soon as possible. To be clear: the prizes WILL be paid. I can not give you an exact time, but we will contact you individually to let you know when we know.

    Thanks,

I think it's ironic that Billy was bragging in MAXIM that he makes $3 MILLION DOLLARS a year from BPONG but can't pay out his prize money. What a bunch of BS...

Dude, don't know who you are but if you could read or understand the meaning of the word revenue, you would know that it means that that is how much was brought in from sales, not their profits.  Profits are what go into your pocket and is calculated as revenue minus costs.  If you read the part about how B/D/S are dumping all their money into growing the brand and advertising, etc. and the part that said they are about breaking even, you would realize that they aren't making shit...so have a little respect and appreciate for what they are doing for the pong community...

Isn't it great that B, D, & S put years of work into creating this organization & web site so business scholars such as yourself can bitch at them? As previously pointed out, there's tons of expenses that go with running a business this size. You should thank them for providing a legitimate foundation for the sport. While I agree that paying out prize money 2 months after an event is not the best scenario (& really is not acceptable at this level), I'm sure there are cash flow reasons beyond their control that prevented earlier payouts, & I'm also reasonably sure that this type of thing will likely never happen again, because smart business people learn from their mistakes. These 3 guys certainly don't want to risk the good reputation they've built. What I would suggest for future events is making sure all the lesser prizes are paid out first, simply because there will be less people to deal with if some unforeseen financial catastrophe occurs. I'm sure Ron & Pop would've been OK with getting $40K on the day of their win, with the remainder to follow, so all their friends who won money would also get paid that day.
    Just my 2 cents....

I'm not a business scholar but Business 101 tells me that if I have 3 MILLION dollars in revenue and I can't pay out $10,000 in GUARANTEED prize money, something is wrong with this business plan...straight up.

I agree that this situation is not right, but we don't know what their balance sheet looks like. Billy may have stated it in a very positive way to attract more investors. Despite $3 million in revenue, they may have $3.3 million in expenses for expanding the business, etc, & may also have been counting on 600 WSOBP V entries instead of the 468 that showed. We just don't know.
Since it IS stated as "guaranteed" prize money, any delays beyond this 2 months will likely cause the organization to lose credibility. For an event of this magnitude, with all the hype & publicity, I agree that ALL cash prizes should be paid out immediately after the event. THAT's GOOD business!
